This
project is a follow-up to the pilot project currently
in progress. The Oxford Digital Library for Forestry (ODLF)
is envisioned as an ongoing service, making available
selected materials not otherwise accessible in electronic
form from the Oxford Forestry Institute’s world-renowned
collections (now in the care of the Oxford Forest Information
Service (OFIS), managed by Oxford University Library Services’
Plant Sciences Library).
Materials will be chosen for their relevance to current
research and usefulness in developing information retrieval
tools within the Global Forest Information Service. All
items will be accessible directly on the web through the
Oxford Digital Library, and also fully subject indexed
in association with CAB International (CABI). It is intended
that subscribers to CAB Abstracts will be able to link
directly to the full text when retrieving abstracts of
items included in ODLF. In addition, certain items will
be used to enhance other information sources such as CABI’s
Forestry Compendium. The Digital Library continues the
University’s long-standing commitment to enabling world-wide
access to forestry information in association with international
partners.
